BURUNDI: Extension of mandate of UN Commission of Inquiry

In 2020 the UN Human Rights Council extended the mandate of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Burundi for another year. The renewal of the Burundi mandate came after over 40 CSOs joined together to urge the Commission, the only remaining independent mechanism documenting human rights violations in Burundi, to maintain its scrutiny during an uncertain time following a change of president.
