ESTONIA: Action against shale oil plant construction

In Estonia, Fridays for Future activists built on the momentum of the school strike movement in April by launching a legal challenge against the construction of a new shale oil plant. Its legal petition, accepted by the court in May, calls for the permit for the plant’s construction to be revoked on the grounds that it breaches Estonia’s international climate change commitments, making it a historical first in Estonia.
