JAPAN: Protests against coal investments

In March, environmental groups protested against the Mizuho Funding Group over its investments in coal, gathering outside its Tokyo headquarters, paying for a full-page advert in the Financial Times and sharing the hashtag #ChangeMizuhoChangeWorld. The pressure told, and ahead of its April meeting Mizuho stated that it would stop financing new coal plants and end any coal loans by 2050.
