SOUTH SUDAN: East African Court rules in favour of judges

In July, the East African Court of Justice ruled that 15 judges in South Sudan had been unfairly dismissed when they were sacked during a 2017 strike over working conditions, and should be reinstated. The case indicated the role that international institutions can play in holding governments to account and upholding rights when they are not being respected domestically.
