ALGERIA: Demands for fundamental change continue

Algeria’s democracy movement has experienced a long struggle. Ten years on, across the Middle East and North Africa, the dreams of the many brave people who rose up in that great wave of revolt usually referred to as the ‘Arab Spring’ have overwhelmingly not been realised. In Algeria, the limited form of democracy on offer still stops far short of people’s expectations.
