PERU: Indigenous victory against oil company

In the northern Peruvian Amazon, following fierce resistance from the Achuar People of the Pastaza and the Wampis Nation, the Chile-based oil company GeoPark announced in July that it would withdraw from the region. The decision was the result of years of Indigenous people’s campaigning and acts of resistance.
